Biography
Farhad is a currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, and a Visiting Research Fellow with the Institute for Energy Studies. He has previously served as a Principal in Market Design at the Australian Energy Market Operator and has a background in international infrastructure and energy finance, investment and capital markets.
Research Interests
My research focuses upon the application of operations research and optimization techniques on the engineering, economic and policy of power system and energy de-carbonization. I have specific research interests in:
- Electricity and system services market design, planning and investment
- Resource adequacy market design
- Uncertainty characterization and risk management in electricity markets
- Frequency control and system security in low inertia systems
- Grid integration of renewables, storage and EV
- Environmental market design
- Energy system planning
