Come visit us

at the Department of Engineering Science

There are lots of opportunities for students to visit us. We also welcome teachers bringing groups. Please see below for details of the different opportunities on offer.

Open Days

What's it really like to study engineering at Oxford? What are our colleges like? For answers to these questions and more, join us at the Department of Engineering during our University-wide Open Days. Stay for an hour - or the whole day.

There'll be taster lectures and demos from academics and researchers, information for parents and carers, talks by current students and tours of the Department.

Lubbock Lectures for Schools

Every year the Department hosts a world-leading engineer to speak about amazing engineering topics like human space exploration and the future of communication technologies. At the beginning of April registration will open for students in year 10, 11, and 12 to attend a special full-day programme for schools.

International Women in Engineering Day

Marking International Women in Engineering Day, each June we invite young women to visit the Department to participate in engineering workshops and meet students and academics in the engineering community.

Stay tuned for more details; registration will open at the beginning of May.

And that's not all...

Further Maths — What Next?

Studying Further Maths A-level, but not sure what you want to do at university? Talented at Maths, but not sure you want to do something that abstract at uni? Want to know a bit more about Maths–related degree subjects that don't appear on the school curriculum?

'Further Maths — What Next?' draws together subject areas from across the University which are suitable for prospective students with a real aptitude for Maths. Participants will attend a range of short taster sessions on subjects that list Further Maths as either a 'highly desirable' or 'helpful' A-level for Oxford applicants to have.

Looking Forward: Energy & Environment, Technology, and Health Themed Science Taster Days

Year 10 female students (14 - 15 year-olds) and their teachers/parents are invited to attend a 'Looking Forward' science-themed taster day at the University of Oxford: giving students a chance to find out how different science disciplines are contributing to today's global challenges.

Each day will draw sessions from across the University's science departments, all based around a different theme: Health, Technology or Energy & Environment.
