Biography

Dr. Lai Zhou received his Bachelor in engineering physics from Tsinghua University in 2013. He was joint educated with the department of electronic engineering and received his Ph.D. degree in engineering physics from Tsinghua University in 2018.

Since January 2019, Lai has been a postdoctoral research assistant in quantum communication with the Department of Engineering Science.

Research Interests

Lai' s research interests span the wide spectrum of quantum communication, from quantum network framework to engineering implementation such as handheld QKD demonstration. His current research is focused on the miniaturization of QKD transmitter and system optimization with the imperfect optical components.

Current Projects

Handheld Quantum Wireless for Secure Financial Transactions and Sensitive Information  This project is funded by innovation UK and Cognizant Company, aiming to develop a low-cost handheld QKD system to to secure real-world bank/payment transactions.
