License server information

New License Server for 2022

Due to a required software upgrade, a new University MATLAB License Server is being used for MATLAB R2022a. This means the license file for the network license is different from the previous license file. The new license file can also be used for releases prior to R2022a.

On 1st September 2022, the old license server will be shut down. Therefore anyone using a network (also known as Concurrent) license must update their license file otherwise they will lose access to MATLAB. The new network.lic file has been e-mailed to MATLAB Representatives and can be temporarily found directly behind our Single Sign On.
You need to:
(1) Locate the existing network license file: Instructions are available from the MathWorks website.
(2) Replace the old network.lic file with the new file

Users with a Designated Computer or Individual License do not need to take action as they do not use the University License Server.

Installing MATLAB 2022a

If you are installing MATLAB 2022a and licensing it with the network license, you can follow the usual procedures. Contact your local MATLAB Representative, who can give you a copy of the license file that uses the new University License Server.

Updating existing MATLAB installations (2021b or earlier)

If you have an existing version of MATLAB installed, you must update the license file to allow connection to the new University License Server. If you do not do this, you will lose access to MATLAB at the end of the summer.

You need to:
(1) Locate the existing network license file: Instructions are available from the MathWorks website.
(2) Replace the old network.lic file with the new file (attached to e-mail sent to reps in June 2022)

If you have difficulty with the process, contact your Local MATLAB Representative.
