A wavefront generator for complex pupil function synthesis and point spread function engineering
We describe a simple method to produce an arbitrarycomplex optical ®eld using a ferroelectric liquid crystalspatial light modulator. The system is con®gured so as to actas a pupil plane ®lter in a confocal microscope. The abilityto tune the complex pupil function permits the system to beused both to modify the imaging performance by effectivelyengineering the point spread function as well as to removeoptical aberrations present in the optical system. som_2000_3.PDF — PDF document, 240Kb
