Vito Tagarielli joined the Solid Mechanics Group as a Departmental Lecturer in Composite Materials on the 1st of October 2008. His research interests include:

- structural dynamics, with particular emphasis on the response of lightweight structures to intense blast and impact loading
- constitutive modeling of engineering materials
- plasticity of metals at the microscopic scale
- mechanics of smart structures.
