University Lecturer in Engineering Science
John Huber is a lecturer in Engineering Science and a fellow of Oriel College. He joined the Department of Engineering in 2005. His doctoral work, completed at Cambridge in 1998, was on the modelling of ferroelectric polycrystals, using micromechanics methods and self-consistent theory of composites. Since then he has worked on a variety of problems in these materials, including fatigue crack growth, relaxation/creep, and the mechanics of thin ferroelectric films. The work has received support from the Royal Society, the EPSRC and the Netherlands Institute for Metals Research - Stichting voor Fundamenteel Onderzoek der Materie (NIMR - FOM). He also has an interest in actuators, sensors and power sources and their use in the design of smart structures and materials. Current Research Projects |
