CASE Conference Prize - 2017

Congratulations to Ellis Parry who won the 2nd year presentation prize at the 2017 Merck CASE Conference. This is the second time that Ellis has won a CASE conference prize.


Oxford Photonics Day Prize

Congratulations to Ellis Parry who won 1st prize in the Oxford Photonics Day Poster Competition. Ellis is a 2nd year DPhil student working on inkjet printing polymers and liquid crystalline materials.

Merck Displaying Futures Finalists

In the summer of 2016, David Hansford and Julian Fells were selected to be in the top ten of the ideas submitted to the 2016 Merck Displaying Futures Award and were invited to attend the kick-off boot-camp at Merck's global headquarters in Germany.

CASE Conference Prize - 2016

Congratulations to Ellis Parry who won the 1st year presentation prize at the 2016 Merck CASE Conference. Ellis is a 1st year DPhil student working on inkjet printing polymers and liquid crystalline materials.

SET Finalist

Chloe Tartan, a DPhil student of the group, was recently selected as a finalist at the SET for Britain Competition for her work on creating 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional polymer structures in liquid crystal materials using direct laser writing. The Poster presentations for the SET Finalists was held at the Houses of Parliament in London in March 2016. Here are some photographs of Chloe with her poster at the event.

IET Award to Graduate Student in Soft Matter Photonics Group

Congratulations to Chloe Tartan, a DPhil student in the group, who has been awarded a prestigious postgraduate scholarship, the ‘Leslie H Paddle Scholarship’ worth £5000 from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). The scholarship supports her research into 'Nano and Micro-scale Polymer Structures in Liquid Crystals for Next Generation Photonic Devices'.  The main article on the Department of Engineering Science webpage can be found here.  Here is a photograph of Chloe receiving her prize at the IET Awards Ceremony.

Oxford Photonics Day Poster Prizes

 

Simon Wood (1st Prize) and Chloe Tartan (2nd Prize) are awarded prizes by the Panel of Judges for their posters presented at the 7th Oxford Photonics Day.
