We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a recently awarded AFOSR (US Air Force Office of Scientific Research) Grant entitled Programmable origami metamaterials with adaptive stiffness. You will join the structures group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). This post is available fixed-term to 14 September 2019 with the possibility of an extension to 14 March 2020
The objective of the project is to develop novel structures and metamaterials using origami technique. This particular Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) position will investigate how to utilise some of the existing origami patterns to create structures with specific mechanical properties that are adaptive to the physical environment they operate in. You are expected to be able to carry out independent research under the supervision of the group leader.
You should possess a doctorate, or be near completion of doctorate in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, material sciences or any other relevant subjects, and have good knowledge of deployable and/or origami structures. You should have good communication skills.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Zhong You using the email address below.
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
