Oxford Turbine Research Facility Project Engineer

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

We are seeking a full-time Project Engineer to join the Oxford Turbine Research Facility (OTRF) team at the Department of Engineering Science (based at the Osney Thermofluids Laboratory). The position is fixed-term for 2 years with funding provided by ATI/Rolls-Royce.

You will be responsible for the design, procurement and installation of a major multi-million pound upgrade to the test facility. This will include: oversight of an extension to the existing laboratory; procurement of new compressor room equipment, air heaters and compressed air storage vessels; design of pipework layouts and trace heating systems; communication and management of external contractors, development of an advanced test section and instrumentation for the test facility. You will be required to work closely with the existing OTRF team, including academics, test controllers, students and technicians.

You should possess a university Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline (with the possibility to underfill at Grade 6 (£28,660 - £34,189 p.a.) for candidates with less experience and qualifications. You should also have experience in mechanical design, heat transfer principles and detailed engineering design and possess knowledge of design practices, e.g. pressure safety regulations.
