We are seeking a full-time Research Administrator to join the Department of Engineering Science based in central Oxford. The post is offered as full time but applications are welcome from those who would like to work part-time. The post is permanent. You will have particular responsibility for managing the research portfolio for the Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC).
You will act as the primary point of liaison during the preparation and submission of grant applications and work with the Department Research Office and Principal Investigators (PIs) to generate budgets. Identifying and coordinating all the sources of information required to cost, develop and internally assess a project. In addition, you will also be responsible for managing the process of setting up contracts and financial accounts for awarded projects, advising Principal Investigators on the financial and administrative regulations of the funder(s). Part of the role also involves the management and supervision of a small administrative team within the OeRC.
You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience with evidence of strong intellectual, analytical and numerical skills. You should also have demonstrable experience of financial management and project management in a research environment as well as experience of preparing funding proposals for research councils and/or industry. The ability to work well under pressure and be able to solve problems is also vital. Previous experience of working in an engineering, medical or a scientific environment is desirable.
