Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Machine Learning for Healthcare

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant to join the Department of Engineering Science. The post is funded by the EPSRC, and is fixed-term for 12 months with possibility of an extension.


This post is part of a collaboration between the biomedical machine learning group of Professor David Clifton, the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and clinical collaborators in China. You will be responsible for developing machine learning methods to improve our understanding of patient severity, and for risk stratification based on physiological sensor data.


The project collaborates with leading clinicians and engineers, and offers excellent opportunities for high-impact publication in the engineering/computer science literature and the medical literature. Delivery of real systems within the NHS and other healthcare systems (such as China) is the intended outcome.


You should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in machine learning, computer science, signal processing, or computational statistics (or cognate disciplines), and have experience of working in a highly interdisciplinary team.
