2 July 2014: Research position in use of diamond as a microscopic sensor of electromagnetic fields

The Group is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Optics to support the research of Dr Brian Patton. We will use the nitrogen-vacancy defect in diamond as a detector for electrical and magnetic fields generated by biological processes. The ultimate goal of this research project is to develop a complete methodology to functionalise nanodiamond with bioactive molecules that are targeted to structures of interest, then label the structures using the nanodiamond and measure cell activity using the fluorescence response of defects in the nanodiamonds. Further information about the post can be found here.
