Vibration reduction in balanced linear compressors

A dynamic model of a moving coil balanced compressor has been developed. A flux distribution calculated in a finite element magnetic circuit analysis was used for the accurate calculation of driving force. The current wave-forms, force waveforms and vibration spectra generated by the model have been compared with measurements made on a small integral cooler. The model has been extended to a balanced compressor pair to enable small mismatches to be investigated.
