Winners of the international annual PhysioNet/Computing in Cardiology Challenge

International research to lead to better head protection

Antoine Jérusalem, Associate Professor with the Department, and Alain Goriely, Professor in the Mathematical Institute, both founders of the International Brain Mechanics and Trauma Lab (IBMTL) that focuses research on brain problems, are working in partnership with Professor Michel Destrade from NUI Galway and Dr Jerry Murphy, from Dublin City University, on measuring the engineering characteristics of brain matter.

International partnership announced to develop superior imaging technology

Isis Innovation, the technology transfer arm at the University of Oxford, and Canada’s Centre for Imaging Technology Commercialization (CIMTEC) have announced a partnership to develop and test a new enhanced ultrasound imaging technology. The principle inventor of this new technology is Professor David Edwards, the Department’s Professor of Engineering Science.

Jaguar Land Rover invests in new 'Centres of Excellence for Engine Combustion Research'

Professors Martin Davy and Richard Stone, from the Department of Engineering Science, will lead a new project on compression ignition in diesel engines thanks to a major investment by Jaguar Land Rover. Two new 'Centres of Excellence for Engine Combustion Research' will be created at the University of Oxford and University College London.
