The 2009 Gas Turbine Award

Congratulations to Dr Budimir Rosic, University Lecturer in Engineering Science, who has been selected to receive the 2009 Gas Turbine Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) together with his co-authors. This Award, which was established in 1963, is one of the most prestigious awards in the world in the field of turbomachinery.

Dr Budimir RosicDr Rosic’s Award is given ‘in recognition of an outstanding individual - or multiple - author contribution to the literature of combustion gas turbines or gas turbines thermally combined with nuclear or steam power plants… Papers published anywhere in the world are eligible.’ His paper focused on controlling tip leakage flows.

At present Dr Rosic and his group are working on turbine-combustion interactions in industrial gas turbines.

Dr Rosic, who was also the recipient of the 2006 Gas Turbine Award, will receive his 2009 ASME Gas Turbine Award at the next world conference: ASME Turbo Expo 2011 (June 6-10) in Vancouver, Canada.
