Research students scoop two top prizes

Oxford research students scooped two of the three prizes for best student posters at the Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics (OSIG) conference in London, run by the Society for Underwater Technology.

Stephen Suryasentana (supervised by Department of Engineering Science Professors Harvey Burd and Byron Byrne) won the top prize of £1000 for his work on the design of suction caisson foundations, sponsored by DONG Energy.

William Beuckelaers (supervised by Department of Engineering Science Professors Guy Houlsby and Harvey Burd) won £500 as joint runner up with his poster on analysis of large scale pile tests sponsored by the PISA joint-industry programme.

Iona Richards and Toby Balaam, both students on the Renewable Energy Marine Structures CDT programme, were also finalists in the competition.
